KENYANS FACE ECONOMIC STRAIN AS STATE HOUSE SPENDING RANKS AMONG HIGHEST GLOBALLY

Kenyans continue to face economic strain as the country ranks among the highest spenders globally on presidential office operations in the 2025/2026 financial year. Figures shared show that Kenya has allocated about Sh16.1 billion to support operations at State House, placing the country third worldwide. The ranking shows that France leads with approximately Sh17.5 billion, followed by Uganda with about Sh17.2 billion. Meanwhile, countries such as the United States, Algeria and South Africa spend comparatively lower amounts on their presidential offices. The figures have sparked debate among citizens as many continue to struggle with the high cost of living, rising prices of basic commodities and increasing economic pressure.
