Kenyans are set to face delays in completing the Talanta Stadium, loss of jobs, wasted public funds, and fewer opportunities to promote sports and nurture local talents after Auditor General Nancy Gathungu revealed serious irregularities in the project. The audit found that Sh10.85 billion of the Sh45.85 billion contract cannot be accounted for. It also showed that the cost rose from the originally approved Sh35 billion without explanation, the open tender process was bypassed, and mandatory Attorney General approval was not sought, raising concerns over transparency and proper management of public funds.
