For many years, parents in Voi watched their children learn in overcrowded classrooms, with limited laboratory space and aging school buildings. Today, that picture is steadily changing as schools across the constituency receive new classrooms, laboratories, administration blocks, and renovated learning facilities through projects funded by the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Parents now say the improvements are beginning to translate into better learning environments and improved academic performance.
Many of them believe that quality education starts with quality infrastructure. They argue that when learners have enough classrooms, modern laboratories, and safe learning spaces, they are more motivated to attend school and concentrate on their studies.
Several parents also praised the effective utilization of NG-CDF resources, saying the fund has become one of the most visible drivers of educational development within the constituency.
Schools Receiving a New Lease of Life
Voi Member of Parliament Hon. Hamisi Chome said the constituency continues to prioritize education through infrastructure development.
According to the MP, many schools are currently being upgraded by renovating old buildings while constructing new learning facilities where necessary. He noted that improving school infrastructure gives learners a conducive environment where they can study comfortably without unnecessary distractions.
He added that education remains one of the key pillars of development and that investing in schools is ultimately an investment in the future of the community.
The ongoing projects include classroom renovations, construction of science laboratories, administration offices, and other essential facilities aimed at supporting quality learning.
Teachers Also Benefiting
School administrators say the projects are not only benefiting students but also teachers.
Headteacher Williamson Mwangemi said improved facilities have significantly boosted teachers’ morale.
He explained that teachers now have proper offices where they can prepare lessons, conduct administrative work, and interact professionally, unlike before when limited office space posed daily challenges.
According to Mwangemi, a comfortable working environment motivates teachers to deliver quality lessons, ultimately improving learners’ academic performance.
He added that modern classrooms and laboratories also make teaching more effective by allowing practical learning and reducing congestion in classrooms.
Parents Welcome Continued Investment
Parents interviewed welcomed the ongoing investment in education and urged leaders to maintain the momentum.
They said infrastructure development should continue alongside the recruitment of more teachers and provision of adequate learning materials to ensure schools achieve even better results.
Many believe that when public resources are managed responsibly, communities directly experience the benefits through improved education and brighter opportunities for future generations.

Education stakeholders agree that quality education requires collaboration between government, school management, teachers, parents, and learners themselves.
As Voi continues investing in school infrastructure, residents remain hopeful that the improved learning environment will continue producing better academic outcomes and preparing students for future success.
